Crankshaft Inspection
Each crankshaft goes through a complete inspection process. We carefully check each crankshaft for cracks, deformation, balance, and wear. Part of this process includes magnetic particle inspection ( magnaflux ), providing a non intrusive and non-destructive means of detecting cracks and imperfections within the ferrous metals of the crankshaft.
Crankshaft Straightening
We carefully examine and measure each crankshaft to ensure that it is straight and is within OEM specifications. When a variation or bend is found, our team will go through the careful process of straightening and remeasuring to ensure proper fitment and operation when reinstalled.
Crankshaft Balancing
Crankshaft balancing is a crucial process for maintaining the performance and longevity of large diesel engines. Properly balanced crankshafts ensure that the engine runs smoothly, reducing harmful vibrations and stress on internal components. By using precision balancing techniques, diesel engine operators can enhance fuel efficiency, increase power output, and maintain optimal performance.
Crankshaft Grinding
The crankshaft of even the most avidly maintained motor will wear over time. This can result in imperfections within the crankshaft’s rod and main journals. We carefully examine each crankshaft for wear and then grind only the smallest amount of material possible to bring the crankshaft back into OEM specifications. This process helps bring new life the to crankshaft.
Polishing and Chamfering Oil Passages
One of the final steps of the crankshaft remanufacturing process is to clean and polish the journals and to chamfering the oil passages. The result is a crankshaft that is fully restored for service in high horse power and marine applications.
